SUMMARY:SciComPt Congress
DESCRIPTION:“The SciComPt 2026 Congress will take place in Évora\, Portugal\, from 27 to 29 May\, under the motto ‘Science: Heritage for the Future’. \n“Holding SciComPt2026 in Évora is an affirmation of principle: science communication gains depth when it dialogues with the territory\, with its history and with the challenges that are inscribed in it. A world heritage city\, university and in transformation\, Évora offers a unique context to think about science not only as the production of knowledge\, but as a cultural heritage and commitment to the future. \n“In a time marked by uncertainty\, misinformation\, and climate urgency\, communicating science is also an exercise in collective responsibility. The Alentejo\, often associated with the idea of periphery\, proves to be a fertile space for questioning simplistic dichotomies between center and margin\, tradition and innovation. Here a long memory coexists\, visible in the tangible and intangible heritage\, and contemporary responses to complex problems\, from environmental sustainability to the social and economic reconfiguration of the territory. \n“Évora is\, therefore\, a privileged place to discuss how science communication can contribute to the construction of more sustainable\, inclusive and culturally rooted futures.”

SUMMARY:Science Writers and Communicators of Canada Annual Conference
DESCRIPTION:“The 2026 SWCC Annual Conference will take place June 15-16 at the Plaza Centre-Ville in Montréal\, Quebec. The opening reception will be on June 14. \n“In an age when scientific progress often outpaces public understanding\, the work of science journalists\, communicators\, educators\, and policy makers has never mattered more. Yet in the current landscape of political polarization\, public mistrust\, and the decline of traditional science media\, this work comes with significant challenges. \n“SWCC 2026 Montréal explores how science journalists and communicators bridge this growing gulf: turning technical language into meaning\, uncertainty into dialogue\, and understanding into informed decision-making; in particular\, how our success depends on new frameworks\, inclusive practices\, and creative means of connection. Together\, we will consider how to keep human judgment\, reconciliation\, and ethics at the heart of progress\, and ensure that scientific knowledge remains understandable\, transparent\, and inclusive.”

SUMMARY:13th Heidelberg Laureate Forum
DESCRIPTION:Travel grants are available for journalists to cover the 13th Heidelberg Laureate Forum. \n“The HLF is an annual networking conference where 200 carefully selected young researchers in mathematics and computer science have the unique chance to meet distinguished scientists in their fields for one week of interdisciplinary academic dialogue. The vibrant atmosphere of the event inspires a blend of scientific discussion and informal interactions among the participants\, setting the HLF apart from traditional conferences. Panel discussions\, lectures and workshops spur scientifically driven debate\, which is then balanced by a variety of social events\, permitting participants to pursue their discourse in an inviting environment. \n“Attending journalists will have the exclusive opportunity to interview renowned laureates from mathematics and computer science\, both in press panels and one-on-one. In addition\, they will be able to engage directly with some of the most promising young researchers from those fields. Journalists are permitted to take part in virtually all of the Forum’s scientific program elements as well as social gatherings in the evenings. Opportunities will also be provided for journalists to network and collaborate with their peers in the press corps. \n“Grants cover travel and visa costs as well as room and board during the stay in Heidelberg. \n“Journalists who do not receive a travel grant or who have missed the travel grant application deadline [of April 8] may nevertheless apply for accreditation to cover the Forum at their own expense.”
