SUMMARY:Climate Journalism: Free Online Course on Investigative Reporting for Every Beat
DESCRIPTION:“Climate change now runs through every reporting beat\, from energy and politics to food systems\, health and local news\, making it one of the most complex stories journalists can investigate today. \n“Yet\, despite its reach\, it remains one of the most challenging topics to cover\, especially when it comes to following power\, money and accountability across systems and borders. \n“To tackle this growing issue\, the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas and the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) have joined forces to offer a new free online course: ‘Climate journalism: investigative reporting for every beat.’ The course will run from June 1 to June 28\, 2026\, and is offered in English and Spanish.”

SUMMARY:Uncovering AI’s Human Cost: A Non Technical Toolkit for Investigative Reporters
DESCRIPTION:“Holding AI systems accountable can seem overwhelming due to the complexity of the technology. But not all investigations into AI require a high level of technical ability. Countless stories about AI are first and foremost about people—those who make the technology\, those who deploy it and\, perhaps most importantly\, those who are harmed by it. \n“In this workshop organized by the Pulitzer Center and GIJN\, participants will be introduced to a framework that breaks down each development stage of AI into an area of coverage and learn about how they can find and report stories within each one. Students will walk away with methods and approaches on how to tackle their own AI accountability stories and learn from low-tech examples that yielded high impacts.”

SUMMARY:Cyanobacteria-Focused Education Trip on Lake Champlain for Science Writers and Media
DESCRIPTION:“Another unique trip aboard the R/V Marcelle Melosira will be offered for science writers and media from across the Lake Champlain basin on July 7 from 10:00 AM to noon [by Lake Champlain Sea Grant]. This trip on Lake Champlain will focus on cyanobacteria blooms and will include short presentations by several leading researchers in the Lake Champlain basin about the status of cyanobacteria blooms in the lake and other waterbodies in the Basin. There will be an opportunity for the trip participants to engage in one-on-one interviews with the researchers and a hands-on activity/demonstration (challenge by choice) to sample the lake water and see some of the cyanobacteria up close through microscopes connected to a large screen display in the classroom aboard the R/V. Registration is on a first-come\, first-served basis.”
