Following the training week\, Senior Fellows mentor reporters as they pair original data analysis with compelling narratives on long neglected or underexplored issues. \n“Admitted Fellows receive: \n\nA $2\,000 stipend to defray reporting costs\nA multi-day\, in-person training in beginner\, intermediate or advanced Spreadsheets or RStudio: October 6-9\, 2026\nFive months of professional mentorship with some of the top data journalists in the country\nFellows also are eligible to apply for professional mentorship in engaged journalism and $1\,000-$2\,000 to support those creative efforts.”

DESCRIPTION:MacDowell in New Hampshire supports journalists/writers by providing residencies (studio\, lodging and meals for two weeks to two months) and project funding of up to $2\,500 in addition to financial aid for accepted applicants engaged in long-form journalism projects. \nA MacDowell Fellowship includes a private studio\, accommodations and three meals a day for two to eight weeks. There are no residency fees. Artists are responsible for materials and travel expenses; financial assistance is available to nonfiction writers in residence based on need.
