DESCRIPTION:“This programme supports cross-border teams of professional journalists and/or news outlets investigating issues related to farm animal welfare and European interests\, both within and beyond Europe. \n“This is not simply an animal welfare story. It connects to regulation and supply chain transparency\, to scientific research on animal cognition and sentience\, to public health\, and to the environmental pressures that intensive livestock and fish farming place on ecosystems. Yet it attracts relatively little journalistic attention\, and even less philanthropic or research funding. \n“Two application rounds are scheduled for this grant programme in 2026.” \nDeadlines: \n\nAugust 27\, 2026\nOctober 29\, 2026\n\n“The total available amount per call to be distributed among all supported investigations is €150\,000. \n“The grant can cover working time and expenses such as logistics\, travel\, insurance\, access to legal support\, translations\, access to technology and data sets\, etc. \n“Next to financial support\, teams can also apply for an experienced mentor to provide assistance with either the focus of the investigation or the need for competences in a specific skill.” \n\nAnnouncement\nInfo webinar: June 30\, 2026 @ 2-3 p.m. CET // 8-9 a.m. EDT
