“As part of EJN’s Empowering Media for the Conservation of Apes in Africa and Asia, we will award up to 10 story grants to journalists in Asian range countries seeking to report on the threats faced by apes (in the wild and in captivity), and the conservation solutions that must be scaled to safeguard animal, human and environmental health in the years to come.

“We are particularly interested in stories with a cross-border element.

“Applicants must be from one of the following nine gibbon- and/or orangutan-range countries in Asia: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. Preference will be given to those who completed the workshop.

“We welcome applications from early-career journalists and experienced reporters with a track record of covering conservation issues.

“We expect to award up to 10 grants with budgets of up to US$1,500 each. “
