“The SciComPt 2026 Congress will take place in Évora, Portugal, from 27 to 29 May, under the motto ‘Science: Heritage for the Future’.
“Holding SciComPt2026 in Évora is an affirmation of principle: science communication gains depth when it dialogues with the territory, with its history and with the challenges that are inscribed in it. A world heritage city, university and in transformation, Évora offers a unique context to think about science not only as the production of knowledge, but as a cultural heritage and commitment to the future.
“In a time marked by uncertainty, misinformation, and climate urgency, communicating science is also an exercise in collective responsibility. The Alentejo, often associated with the idea of periphery, proves to be a fertile space for questioning simplistic dichotomies between center and margin, tradition and innovation. Here a long memory coexists, visible in the tangible and intangible heritage, and contemporary responses to complex problems, from environmental sustainability to the social and economic reconfiguration of the territory.
“Évora is, therefore, a privileged place to discuss how science communication can contribute to the construction of more sustainable, inclusive and culturally rooted futures.”
