“Mongabay is now accepting applications for the first Portuguese-language cohort of the Y. Eva Tan Environmental Journalism Fellowship.

“This six-month, fully remote fellowship supports early-career environmental journalists from eligible tropical Portuguese-speaking countries in building their reporting portfolios while working closely with Mongabay’s editors.

“Fellows gain hands-on experience covering critical biodiversity and conservation issues and receive structured editorial mentorship throughout the program. The fellowship is conducted entirely in Portuguese, and fluency is required.”

• Eligible countries: Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cabo Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste
• Stipend: US$500 per month
• Time commitment: 10 hours per week; approximately one published story per month
