National Science-Health-Environment Reporting Fellowships (SHERF)

Summary:

Journalists interested in building careers reporting on science, health and the environment are eligible to apply for these cross-disciplinary fellowships designed to provide training, networking, expenses-paid trips to conferences, mentoring, new sources and story ideas, while allowing them to continue their paid work. The year-long fellowships, a collaboration of the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ), the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW) and the Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ), are open to early-career, U.S.-based journalists interested in covering any or all of the three fields. The deadline for applications is extended to December 31, 2025. Watch the recording of the Nov. 21, 2025 info webinar, comprising a fellowship overview, Q&A and the opportunity to hear from SHERF alumni. Visit the link below for more information and to apply.
